Advertising and sponsorship
Placid keeps commercial communication clear, limited, and separate from health editorial.
1. Clear labels
Paid placements, sponsorships, affiliate links, and promotional material are labelled in plain language. Readers should not have to infer that an item is commercial.
A label such as “Sponsored”, “Advertisement” or “Affiliate link” is placed directly above or beside the item, in text large enough to read, and not hidden in a footer. Promotional blocks use a different layout from articles so that the two are not confused. If a page is funded in full or in part by a sponsor, a statement at the top explains the role of the sponsor. Labels remain in place for as long as the item is published.
- (a) Placement: next to the item concerned.
- (b) Wording: plain and readable.
- (c) Duration: for as long as the item is online.
2. Editorial separation
Advertisers do not approve editorial conclusions, rewrite health claims, or decide which corrections are published. Commercial funding does not buy a favourable article.
Editors and the commercial contact work separately, and the people who write articles do not negotiate sponsorship terms. A sponsor may be told when a page is published but does not see it in advance. If an advertiser disagrees with an article, it can send evidence to the desk, which handles the request under the correction process described in the editorial policy. Sponsorship agreements state that they do not give any right to influence coverage.
- (a) Writers are not involved in sales.
- (b) No pre-publication review by sponsors.
- (c) Disagreements follow the correction process.
3. Suitable categories
We avoid promotions that make unsupported health promises, exploit fear, or encourage unsafe behaviour. We may decline a campaign even when its category is ordinarily permitted.
Examples of material we decline include promises of rapid results, products presented as substitutes for medical care, and messages built around fear of ageing or appearance. Categories that are restricted by law or by advertising platform policies, such as tobacco, gambling, weapons and adult content, are not accepted. Every proposed item is read by an editor and may be returned with a request to remove or reword a statement. The final decision belongs to Placid, and a rejection can occur without a detailed explanation.
- (a) Unsupported health promises: declined.
- (b) Restricted categories: not accepted.
- (c) Editor review before every placement.
4. Claims
Advertising claims must be supportable and lawful in the relevant market. Placid does not independently guarantee a product’s safety, efficacy, availability, or suitability.
Advertisers are asked to provide documents that support their claims, for example a product registration with BPOM where it is required, or a reference to the study they cite. Placid reviews this material for clarity but is not a regulator, and it cannot test products. A reader who purchases anything from an advertiser deals directly with that business, and consumer protection rules in Indonesia apply to that transaction. If a claim appears incorrect, the placement can be paused while the advertiser responds, typically within 7 working days.
- (a) Supporting documents requested.
- (b) Placid does not test or certify products.
- (c) Placements may be paused during a review.
5. Audience data
We do not sell contact lists. Any measurement or campaign reporting is limited, aggregated where practical, and handled according to the privacy and cookies policies.
Reports to a sponsor contain totals such as page views, broad country or city level locations and the type of device, with no names or contact details. Data are retained for the length of the campaign and for up to 12 months afterwards for accounting purposes. Where a third-party advertising tool is used, it is named in the cookies policy and loads only after consent. Readers can ask about the data held about them by following the process in the privacy policy, and requests are answered within 30 days.
- (a) Reports: aggregated figures only.
- (b) Retention: campaign period plus up to 12 months.
- (c) Requests: handled under the privacy policy.
6. Health sensitivity
We do not intentionally target people based on inferred diagnoses, symptoms, medication use, or other sensitive health interests.
This means that a person who reads an article on blood pressure or sleep should not then be shown targeted messages because of that interest. We do not ask advertisers to build audiences from health topics, and any contextual placement is limited to broad themes. Where law restricts the use of sensitive personal data, we apply the stricter rule. If a reader notices an advertisement that seems to rely on their health interests, they can report it to [email protected].
- (a) No audiences based on health interests.
- (b) Contextual placement limited to broad themes.
- (c) Reader reports reviewed promptly.
7. Affiliates
If a link may create a commission, that relationship is disclosed near the link or in the relevant article. Editorial selection remains subject to our standards.
A disclosure would read, for example, “Placid may receive a commission if you buy through this link”, and it appears before the link and not after it. A commission does not change the price a reader pays, and it does not influence whether the item is mentioned. Placid does not use affiliate links on pages about medicines, mental health or other high-risk topics. The list of active affiliate relationships, if any, is kept by the editor and can be requested through the contact page.
- (a) Disclosure appears before the link.
- (b) No affiliate links on higher-risk topics.
- (c) List of relationships available on request.
8. Corrections
Concerns about an advertisement can be sent to [email protected]. We review misleading, inaccessible, or inappropriate placements and may pause them while reviewing.
A concern should include the page address, a description or screenshot of the item and the date it was seen. We acknowledge a report within 3 working days, and we aim to finish a review within 14 days. The outcome may be to keep, change or remove the placement, and we tell the sender what was decided. A repeated problem with the same advertiser leads to a review of the whole relationship.
- (a) Acknowledgement: within 3 working days.
- (b) Review: aimed within 14 days.
- (c) Outcome shared with the sender.
9. Contact
Commercial enquiries may be addressed to the Placid desk at Jl. Cendrawasih No. 88, RT.003/RW.007, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Jakarta 12120, Indonesia or +62 813 7755 3399.
10. Review
This policy is reviewed at least annually. The present edition is dated October 1, 2026, and reflects the site’s informational, non-salesy position.
11. Third parties
External advertisers control their own products, pages, terms, and privacy practices. Readers should review those materials independently before taking action.
12. Change log
The October 2026 edition clarifies labels, sensitive audience data, affiliate disclosure, and the editorial firewall. Future material changes will receive a new date.

- (d) Revision log: October 1, 2026 – current edition published, with expanded detail on labelling, separation, categories, claims, data, health sensitivity, affiliates and complaints.
Further detail on commercial practice
This note adds practical detail to the sections above and does not replace them. Placid applies a short list of conditions to any commercial relationship, and the editorial desk can decline an arrangement that does not meet them. The aim is that a reader can always tell what is editorial, what is paid and who is behind it.
- (a) Not accepted: promotions that make health claims, promise results or target readers with fear or pressure.
- (b) Not accepted: alcohol, tobacco, gambling, adult content, weapons, and any product that relies on health claims.
- (c) Sponsor names are shown in full, and a link to the sponsor's own website is marked as sponsored.
- (d) Advertising partners may not use personal information from Placid readers for profiling without a clear consent choice.
Where third-party advertising technology is used, it is covered by the cookie choice described in the cookies policy and is switched off for readers who select Reject. Advertising partners are treated as separate controllers of any data they collect, and their own privacy notices apply. Data may be handled outside Indonesia under safeguards consistent with Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection. Placid keeps records of sponsored items, including start and end dates, for 24 months.
Questions or complaints about an advertisement can be sent to [email protected], by phone on +62 813 7755 3399, or by post to Jl. Cendrawasih No. 88, RT.003/RW.007, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Jakarta 12120, Indonesia. Placid acknowledges a message within 3 working days and replies in full within about 30 days. A confirmed breach of these conditions leads to removal of the item.
- (a) October 1, 2026: accepted content rules, data handling and complaint steps expanded.
